“Sites” are places from which we conduct transactions. We must tie each “Site” to one, and only one catalog. Although we can only associate one catalog with any given “Site”, we can associate as many “Sites” as we need with any given catalog.As we’ve seen in many of the menus within the Admin UI, there’s a context switcher in the top left that allows us to select which “Site” we want to view or edit.In this video, I’m going to demonstrate how to create and manage “Sites”. “Sites” are places from which we conduct transactions. It lists all “Sites” that have been previously created in this tenant, as well as the “Catalogs” they are tied to, “Currency” and “Locale” of that “Catalog”, and the “Site Status”. To rename or delete an existing “Site”, click the “Ellipses” for that “Site”, then click either “Rename” or “Delete”. When clicking “Delete”, a modal window will appear confirming that we want to “Delete” the “Site”. Click “No” to cancel and return to the “Sites” menu, or click “Yes” to confirm. The first thing we’ll do is give the new “Site” a “Name”. We’ll use this “Name” to identify this “Site” in the context switcher throughout the Admin UI. Next, we’ll determine if this site will represent a “Storefront” that online shoppers can visit or not. This will determine the sub-set of products this “Site” has access to. As stated before, a “Site” can only reference one “Catalog”, but we can have as many “Sites” as we need. Lastly, we’ll select the “Locale Code” for this Site. “Locale Code” options are determined by what’s available in the “Catalog” we just selected. When we’ve configured the new “Site”, we’ll click “Save” to provision it.Important Note - After creating a new “Site”, it may take up to 30 minutes before the cache refreshes and the site settings are available for configuration. We can also create a new “Site” on the Sandbox “Details” page in the “Dev Center” by clicking the “Gear” icon on a Catalog, and clicking either “Add storefront site” or “Add non-storefront site”.We discussed the “Dev Center” in a separate video.
