# October 14, 2026 - 1.2640 Service Update

## **Announcements**

### Code Freeze

Kibo is entering its “code freeze” for the peak holiday season. This production release of Version 1.2640 is the final major update being pushed to production tenants until January. Changes will continue to be added to sandbox environments per the below schedule and will be released to production on January 19, 2027:

* Version 1.2642: October 27
* Version 1.2644: November 10
* Version 1.2646: November 24
* Version 1.2648: December 8
* Version 1.2650: January 5
* Version 1.2652: January 5

### Inventory UI — Access Control & Role Permissions Update

Kibo is updating how access to the [Inventory UI](https://docs.kibocommerce.com/concept-guides/inventory#5-working-with-inventory-in-the-admin-ui) (Supply/Demand UI) is controlled in the Kibo Admin. With this release, Inventory UI visibility and actions are gated by inventory-specific role behaviors. This is replacing the current behavior in which any user holding *Location Read* can see the Supply → Inventory navigation, regardless of whether they have [inventory management permissions](https://docs.kibocommerce.com/pages/user-roles#default-role-list). No behaviors are removed from any role, and *Location Read* continues to govern locations, location groups, and returns exactly as today. Kibo's Inventory APIs already enforce these checks, so no API or integration changes are required.

<Warning>
  **Who is affected:** Clients using custom roles to grant users access to the Inventory UI should begin reviewing their role configurations now. Users on custom roles without at least one inventory behavior (Read Inventory, Modify Inventory, Delete Inventory, or Create Inventory) will no longer see the Supply → Inventory navigation once the change reaches Production. Users assigned the built-in Admin, SuperAdmin, or Inventory Manager roles do not need to take any action; the Inventory Manager role is expanded automatically to include full inventory access plus read-only Shipments visibility.
</Warning>

The change is available for validation in Sandbox from **October 15, 2026**, and takes effect in Production from each user's first login on **October 27, 2026**. This is the final Production release before Kibo's peak season code freeze. For the full behavior-to-action matrix, timeline, and step-by-step role update instructions, see the Support Portal article [Action Required: Inventory Access Control — Permission Enforcement in the Supply & Demand UI](https://help.kibocommerce.com/s/article/Inventory-Access-Control-Supply-Demand-UI-Oct-2026).

Please contact [Kibo Support](https://help.kibocommerce.com/) if you have any questions.

## Production Features

### Commerce

* **Custom Return Attributes in Returns:** New user interface capabilities now allow users to capture, view, and manage custom return attributes directly during [return creation](https://docs.kibocommerce.com/pages/initiate-a-return) and [processing](https://docs.kibocommerce.com/pages/manage-returns). Custom data can now be managed in the interface at both the overall return and individual line-item levels. Additionally, Advanced Search now includes filter controls to easily locate returns based on custom attributes.
* **Internal Notes for Historical Orders:** Added the ability to create internal order notes on historical imported orders in Order Admin. Customer service representatives can now record notes and feedback directly on historical store orders to maintain a complete communication record.

### Inventory

* **Future ATP Updates:**
  * **Early Release of Future Shipments (site setting, off by default)**: Automatically releases Future shipments to Ready as soon as current inventory becomes available at their assigned location, ahead of the scheduled date. Estimated Delivery Dates are recalculated automatically on release.
  * **Partial Future PO Receipt API:** A new inventory API lets your warehouse management system record a partial physical receipt of a future purchase order. The received quantity becomes current on-hand inventory, the future record is reduced in place, and Future shipments allocated to that PO are pulled forward oldest-first — all in one atomic, idempotent call.
  * **Suppress automatic future-to-current on-hand conversion (tenant setting on Inventory UI, off by default)**: If your own ERP or WMS feed is already your source of truth for on-hand inventory, turn this on to stop KIBO from also converting future inventory to on-hand on its expected date, which eliminates double-counted stock. Existing behavior is unchanged unless you enable it.
  * **Enable Future Shipments Release  (tenant setting on Inventory UI, on by default)**: Gives you direct, visible control over the background job that moves Future shipments to Ready on their scheduled date. The Future Inventory site setting is being renamed to "Future Inventory Enabled to Allocate to" — a label change only, with no change in behavior. See the[ Future Inventory documentation](https://docs.kibocommerce.com/pages/future-inventory) for more details.
* **Query Inventory Availability by Location Group:** A new Storefront GraphQL query lets you check real-time inventory availability for up to 24 SKUs across a named Location Group (e.g.,  Regional Warehouses, Mega Hub) in a single call, returning the top-ranked locations per SKU by available quantity — no more hardcoding individual location codes or over-fetching site-wide data. This also adds a "Primary" designation for Location Groups, allowing a location to belong to multiple Location Groups within the same site (gated by a tenant-level flag). See[ Real time inventory documentation](https://docs.kibocommerce.com/pages/real-time-inventory-service) for more details.

### Fulfillment

* **Filter Shipments by Custom Attributes:** Users can now filter shipments by Extensible Attributes (shipment-level) and Extensible Item Attributes (Shipment-item-level) in both the Supply/Demand UI Shipments page and the Fulfiller UI Advanced Search. The filter dynamically renders the right input (dropdown, text, or date) based on the attribute's type, and supports combining multiple attributes to narrow down results — making it easy to find shipments by custom criteria without manual searching. see [Fulfiller UI Overview documentation](https://docs.kibocommerce.com/pages/fulfiller-ui-overview) for more details.

## Production Bug Fixes

| **Service** | **Resolution** |
| :- | :- |
| Catalog | Fixed an issue where the Google Feed export combined variant property values from other variants — for example, a variant's VPN or color attribute values appeared together with values belonging to other variants — instead of exporting each variant's own values. |
| Catalog | Fixed an issue where localized content on product attributes was omitted from the Google Feed export (attribute values exported truncated), and where a variant's fulfillment types set to "Same as Product" were exported as Direct Ship only. |
| Commerce | Fixed an issue where orders could become stuck in Validated status due to concurrent processing during shipment creation. |
| Commerce | Fixed an issue where timed-out gateway refund attempts were missing from the order payment history, ensuring all attempts are logged to prevent accidental duplicate refunds. |
| Commerce | Fixed an issue where orders could not be canceled when a payment was in a pending void status (`VoidPending`). |
| Commerce | Optimized performance for the `GetOrders` API endpoint, resolving latency issues during periods of high concurrent traffic. Order queries now execute significantly faster and remain stable under heavy load. |
| Inventory | Fixed an issue where inventory reservations created for a specific site could silently lose their site assignment during checkout, causing order creation to fail with a "reservation not found" error. |

## Production Sandbox Features

### Catalog

* **Rules Engine Framework Enhancements:**
  * **Rule eligibility windows:** Every rule now supports optional **Start Date** and **End Date** fields, so you can schedule seasonal or time-boxed rules in advance instead of toggling rules on and off manually. A rule is evaluated only when it is enabled and the current date falls within its window. Rules without dates continue to be always eligible - no change for existing configurations.
  * **Search & Filter on rule list pages:** Every rule list page now includes a consistent Search & Filter section where you can filter by Rule Code, Rule Name, Start Date, End Date, Status, and Created By, with combined (AND) logic.
  * **Available for Rules attribute setting:** Control which custom and extensible attributes can be used in rule criteria. The setting is disabled by default and follows the same pattern as Available as Order Routing Filter.
  * **Enhanced sort criteria:** Call Off Reservation, Future Shipment, Backorder Shipment, Steal-For, and Steal-From rules now support an optional **secondary sort attribute** with its own ascending/descending direction, applied as a tie-breaker when matched records share the same primary sort value. Primary and secondary sort fields now also include qualifying header-level extensible attributes (Date, Number, and Yes/No types) .
* **Location Codes in Product Inventory Events:** Product inventory event notifications for in-stock, out-of-stock, and inventory update events now include the location code in the event payload's `extendedProperties`, allowing you to track in-stock and out-of-stock changes at the specific location where they occur. To enable this capability, contact your Kibo representative to have the inventory update events feature enabled for your tenant. See the [Event Notifications documentation](https://docs.kibocommerce.com/pages/event-notifications-overview) for more details.

### Commerce

* **Guest One-Time-Use Coupon Validation on Cart:** Added support for validating one-time-use coupons on the cart page for guest shoppers. Capturing an email address on the cart now triggers automatic repricing and enforces per-user coupon redemption limits prior to checkout.
* **Gift Card Custom Data Forwarding:** Enhanced the payment gateway integration to pass custom transaction data during gift card balance checks and new gift card creation. This ensures custom fields are successfully forwarded to the extensible gateway adapter, supporting custom gift card integrations and refunds that require a new gift card to be issued.
* **Amazon Pay v2 Refund Synchronization:** Added Instant Payment Notification (IPN) handling and a fallback polling mechanism for Amazon Pay v2 refunds. Order refund statuses now automatically update when completed or declined by Amazon, keeping payment records synchronized and preventing accidental duplicate processing.

### Inventory

* **Inventory Audit Logs:** A complete, immutable audit trail of inventory changes is now available for enabled tenants. Every inventory event — adjustments, refreshes, imports, deletions, order allocation and deallocation, safety stock changes, future inventory events, and pending item releases — is recorded with the user or source system that initiated it and before/after quantities. View, filter, and export the log in the Inventory UI under [**Inventory Audit Logs**](https://docs.kibocommerce.com/pages/inventory-audit-logs). Contact [Kibo Support](https://help.kibocommerce.com/) to enable this capability.
* **Supply/Demand UI Updates — Role-Based Permissions for the New Inventory UI**: The [Inventory UI (Supply/Demand UI)](https://docs.kibocommerce.com/concept-guides/inventory#5-working-with-inventory-in-the-admin-ui) in the Kibo Admin is now governed by inventory role behaviors instead of Location Read. The Supply → Inventory navigation appears only for users whose role includes at least one inventory behavior (Read, Create, Modify, or Delete Inventory); Create, Edit, Delete, and Edit Attributes controls appear only with the matching behavior — read-only users can still search and view inventory, including allocations. The Shipments page requires Order Read, and its status actions (Ready, Hold, Backorder) require Order Ship. The default Inventory Manager role now includes all four inventory behaviors plus read-only Shipments, applied automatically to all tenants.

### Fulfillment

* **Dynamic One-to-Many Product Substitutions (via Fulfillment API):** A single unit of an out-of-stock product can now be substituted with multiple units of one or more eligible substitutes in one Fulfillment API action, with products and quantities chosen at substitution time based on available inventory — no pre-configured Product Bundle required. Substitute items are added, displayed, and removed as one set. Contact [Kibo Support](https://help.kibocommerce.com/) to enable this capability for your tenant.

## Sandbox Bug Fixes

| **Service** | **Resolution** |
| :- | :- |
| Commerce | Fixed an issue where calculated tax was omitted from the order total, preventing automatic payment adjustments from incorrectly reducing the payment amount. |
| Commerce | Fixed an issue where canceling an order with a partially refunded payment attempted to refund the full captured amount instead of the remaining balance. |
| Inventory | Fixed an issue where the Inventory UI did not indicate which locations were inactive. A "Disabled" badge now appears next to the location name in inventory search results, making inactive locations immediately visible. |
| Order Routing | Fixed an issue where an empty or incomplete shipping address caused order routing to return no inventory candidates on product pages; these requests now return the full site-wide candidate list, as if no address had been provided. |
| Fulfillment | Fixed an issue where partial-stock validation failed with a "Quantity of reassign item exceeds quantity of shipment item" error when an order line was split across multiple shipments, leaving stores unable to partially fulfill or cancel the affected shipment. Stores can now complete partial-stock validation on split shipments and fulfill the quantity they have on hand. |
